About My Practice

There is a Buddhist adage that suggests, “Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional." In my practice, I help clients develop the coping skills they need to manage the inevitable pain that is part of being human, and provide safety and support as they examine the causes of any unnecessary emotional suffering.

Rather than giving advice, I will help you shape different perspectives on your life story. Depression, anxiety, and a negative self-image are all largely symptoms of core “issue(s)” we are not fully aware of. Together we will first target these symptoms to allow for immediate relief, and then we will explore your past and current interpersonal interactions to uncover the causes of your ongoing emotional suffering. By changing the stories we tell ourselves we can profoundly shift the way we view ourselves in the world.

Over the years I have developed a unique approach that combines psychodynamic psychotherapy with the proven power of mindfulness practices. I have extensive training in Evidence Based (EB) practice therapies, such as Cognitive-Behavioral (CPT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE). My training allows me to customize treatment to the individual needs of each patient.  Our work together will be unique to who you are and what you bring to this process of compassionate self-inquiry.
